Today is the last day of 2018 and like many nonprofits, we are standing with hat in hand, humbly asking for a donation to help us use our community gardens to serve others in our community.
Many are working poor and are so appreciative of the nutritious vegetables they grow. ICG garden sites have become known as family friendly locations where their kids are safe, where everyone is welcome in a friendly and inviting atmosphere and where people can meet other people from their neighborhoods and from where they aspire to. Our resident gardeners willingly feed others in their neighborhood through our First Fruits and Community Choice donation programs.
But more importantly, our volunteers build relationships. We provide repeated opportunities for everyone to feel what true love for one another means, without pretense, ulterior motives or personal gain. We do that first at our gardens then expand outwardly, providing opportunities for our gardeners to meet, share and talk with others in their neighborhood. Isn’t that what we are all commanded to do, anyway?
Although ICG never charges our gardeners to pay money to participate, they do donate their time and labor to maintain their site and gardens. And our gardens are productive, each garden produces close to $5,000 worth of vegetables!
We look to our supporters to help donate money to keep us viable.
Please consider donating today. ICG is a federally recognized 501c3 nonprofit organization so your financial donation is tax deductible.
You can do so easily by clicking on our donation button now, as a one-time donation or spread over a period of time.
